The NGO and Cooperative Coordination, CONGCOOP, recognizes as a disloyal attitude to democracy, legality and to the memory of the victims from the internal armed conflict the annulment of the sentence to Efraín Ríos Montt. It is a crude juridical maneuver whose final intention was to take away the guilt from the former head of State for the massacres done during his government period.

Even though this was a decision already foreseen given the political and economic influence exerted over the Constitutionality Court, nothing can justify this action that as we have already said is contrary to the peace process, the human rights and it is an affront for the victims and for the intelligence of the Guatemalan people.
