Friends you all:

Within the framework of our cycle of events for this present year, we are inviting all of you to attend the Forum “Left wing governments and public policies” to discuss the need to foster environmental policies from the spaces of the government as well as to promote actions to be undertaken by the civil society. We shall have the presence of Dagmar Enkelmann (Federal Deputy from Germany and Chair Person of the Direction Council of RLS), Mireya Imaz (Coordinator of the University Program on the Environment, UNAM), Josef Schulte-Sasse (Coordinator of the Comprehensive Territorial Programme -Iztacalco, COPEVI) and Alejandro Encinas (Senator for the Republic of Mexico, yet to be confirmed). The moderation of the panel will be given to Torge Löding (Director of the Regional Office in Mexico of RLS).

We want to promote a dialogue among experiences in the hands of representatives either from the government or from political parties situated more on the left wing, which related to public environmental policies have found the need to assess the responsibilities of the left wing governments when confronted to the environmental issue, public policies, opportunities and limitations to state that the civil society should be able to exert an influence on the projects, si it becomes a challenge to integrate proposals coming from the population.

Which are the challenges we encounter to develop a joint work between the government and the civil society? Which are the proposals to be discussed to restate an environmental policy in each context? How can we attain a more effective participation by the population?

Wednesday, 19 June, 18h30, Calzada General Pedro Anaya 65, Colonia San Diego Churubusco, Coyoacán, Ciudad de México.
