The wave of strikes that began in Indonesia in 2011 has continued through 2012 and has now led to another general strike this week with over two million Indonesian workers participating. The main demands were around a 50% increase in minimum wage, abolition of outsourcing and anti-labour laws, as well as a range of social and welfare demands. Unfortunately, in some cities, workers were attacked by right wing thugs. Indonesian workers are an example to workers everywhere in the region of how to fight against casualisation and the race to the bottom.
