BADIN, Jan 17: Teachers of primary schools staged token hunger strikes in Badin and Khairpur on Jan 16, demanding reinstatement of their colleagues sacked in Tharparkar, quota in jobs for deceased and retired teachers and regularisation of contractual teachers.

Protests were also held in adjoining towns of Golarchi, Matli, Tando Bago and Talhar.

KHAIRPUR: Members of the Primary Teachers Association’s Khairpur chapter observed a token hunger strike on the court road here on Jan 16.

PTA leaders Asadullah Memon and Khair Mohammad Soomro demanded that teachers should also be promoted to grade-16 like their colleagues in Balochistan.

They called for job quota and group-insurance for teachers among other demands and warned if the demands were not met they would turn their token hunger strike into a hunger strike.###
